Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.
This week in class, we’re reading "Excerpt from "The Tempest"" by William Shakespeare.
In this excerpt from The Tempest, a sorcerer named Prospero threatens Caliban, an inhabitant of the island he is stranded on, to do his bidding.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Fear & Paranoia, Morality, and Power & Greed as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :
"How can fear be used to manipulate?", "Why do people do bad things?", and "How does power corrupt?"
