Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.

This week in class, we’re reading "Opposing Innovation" by Mike Kubic.

"Opposing Innovation: The Luddite Lesson" describes the origin of the term "Luddite" and meditates on what we might learn from the stories of those who have historically opposed the implementation of new technologies.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of America, Social Change & Revolution, and Technology, Progress & Industry as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"How has America changed over time?", "What are the costs and benefits of technology?", and "Why do people resist change?"
