Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.

This week in class, we’re reading "President Bush’s “Islam is Peace” Speech" by President George W. Bush.

In “President Bush’s ‘Islam is Peace’ Speech,” President Bush addresses the treatment of Muslims in the United States, less than one week after the September 11th terrorist attacks.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Morality, Prejudice & Discrimination, and War & Peace as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"What is good and how do we know?", "How does prejudice emerge?", and "How can we achieve peace?"
