Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.

This week in class, we’re reading "The Man of the Crowd" by Edgar Allan Poe.

Unlike Edgar Allan Poe's well-known suspenseful works, "The Man of the Crowd" is a mysterious and philosophical short story that explores unanswered questions as the narrator follows a man around the streets of London.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Fate & Free Will and Loneliness & Isolation as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"What does it mean to feel alone?" and "Can we control our fate?"
