Parent Guide > The Necklace
Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.
This week in class, we’re reading "The Necklace" by Guy de Maupassant.
In "The Necklace," a poor woman borrows an expensive necklace for a fancy ball. When the necklace goes missing, the woman and her husband spend years living in poverty in order to pay back the debt.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Beauty & Happiness and Power & Greed as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :
"Does money buy happiness?" and "How can we achieve happiness?"
