This week in class, we’re reading "The Ocean" by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

This poem explores the mystery of life after death through descriptions of the peaceful depths of the ocean.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Death and Human vs. Nature as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"How do people face death?" and "How do we view nature?"
