CommonLit 360 CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 for grades 11-12 is coming!

CommonLit 360 is a comprehensive, full-year ELA curriculum for grades 6-12 designed to support student growth in reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Our curriculum provides teachers with researched-based instructional materials designed by literacy experts, many of whom are former teachers. We believe that students learn best when they are engaged in meaningful, relevant, and challenging work. Every 360 unit equips educators with all the materials needed to provide this learning experience.

CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 for 11th and 12th grade.

The updates we made to Edition 2.0 for grades 6-8 were contributing factors to CommonLit 360 receiving an “all green” rating from EdReports. We are eager to bring these enhancements to our high school curriculum as well.

Our CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 units for grades 9-10 are complete and are all available on CommonLit.org. We’re now developing CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 for grades 11-12. This new edition builds upon the success of our current high school curriculum, and includes improvements to deepen student learning and engagement such as:

  • Streamlined teacher resources: New and refreshed instructional supports designed to save teachers time and make planning easier — including pacing guides built specifically for 45-minute class periods
  • Knowledge-building texts: Carefully selected reading selections that deepen students’ content knowledge over time while strengthening reading endurance and comprehension.
  • Enhanced Culminating Tasks: More robust end-of-unit experiences that elevate student voice through formal speaking and listening opportunities, presentations, and authentic performance-based outcomes.
  • Enhanced lessons: Engaging lessons that build critical thinking and transferable literacy skills — including multimedia analysis, academic vocabulary, grammar instruction, structured discussion, and Socratic Seminars.
  • Increased rigor and coherence across grades 9-12: Building on our CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 curriculum for 9th and 10th grade, these units create a coherent progression of skills leading to college and career readiness, with a special focus on preparing students to work independently with challenging texts and tasks.

Guiding principles of instruction

When the literacy experts at CommonLit create 360 units, they have a number of guiding principles that ground their work, which is evident all throughout the curriculum, including Edition 2.0 for 11th and 12th grade.

  • Students can and should engage with rigorous grade-level content with appropriate support in place.
  • Teachers drive student outcomes and create meaningful and engaging learning experiences.
  • Deep engagement fosters deep learning and occurs when students have content that matters to them.
  • Learning is a social process with students acquiring knowledge and skills through social interactions, collaboration, and observation.

Each CommonLit 360 unit centers these principles and features integrated reading and writing lessons that are appropriately rigorous to provide teachers with a core curriculum that is structured (not scripted).

When will CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 for 11th and 12th grade be complete?

We will be releasing our CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 units for grades 11-12 on a rolling basis throughout 2026 and 2027. We expect that all the units will be published and available by late summer 2027.

Is CommonLit 360 for high school rated by EdReports?

CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 for High School will be developed using the same best practices as CommonLit 360 Edition 2.0 for Middle School, which received an all green EdReports rating
