By teachers, for teachers

At CommonLit, we believe in a simple truth: empowered and confident teachers get results. We know from decades of experience that great teaching is easier with the right materials, time, and support.

It starts with one teacher's story.

CommonLit was built on the belief that every school deserves access to effective, evidence-based tools for instruction.

Our founder, Michelle Brown, began teaching in a school where teachers had to make their own materials. Later, she taught in a school that already had high-quality materials for her to use. Through this experience, she realized that the right tools could transform teaching.

Over the past decade, the CommonLit team has delivered on that belief with an easy-to-use and affordable program for all schools. Today, thousands of schools rely on CommonLit to accelerate student learning.
