Exciting CommonLit Additions for SY 22–23

Canvas integration, 360 Units for grades 11 and 12, and hundreds of new lessons!

At CommonLit, we’re always thinking of new ways to support teachers and students. That’s why we’re excited to share some great new additions to our digital literacy program for SY22–23!

Canvas Integration

CommonLit’s new Canvas integration makes using CommonLit even easier and more accessible in three key ways.

First, teachers can seamlessly set up their digital classes on CommonLit by importing their class rosters from Canvas. Then, they can post any CommonLit lesson directly to Canvas for their students. Students will still be able to use all of CommonLit’s great interactive features, like our Read Aloud and Translation tools, directly in Canvas. Finally, teachers can send grades from CommonLit to their Canvas gradebook and even customize the weight of the assignment.

Target Lessons

We are excited to release our new Target Lessons, which are specifically designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills.

Target Lessons are easy-to-use, complete lessons that support reading, writing, and classroom discussion. Many lessons focus on a particular skill, like identifying the main idea, that they’ll use to deeply understand the text. They include scaffolded Pre-Reading, During Reading, and Post-Reading questions that give students multiple opportunities to practice the skill and build comprehension. We’re excited for you to explore our selection of Target Lessons!

CommonLit 360 Units for 11th and 12th Grade

We’ve seen a ton of enthusiasm this year for CommonLit 360, our comprehensive literacy curriculum for grades 6–10. We’re excited to expand the curriculum to 11th and 12th grades next!

New CommonLit 360 units for 11th and 12th grade will be available starting late June 2022. They’ll have all the great parts of CommonLit 360 teachers and students love, including meaningful essential questions, highly engaging grade-level texts, and rigorous writing outcomes.

Our Growing Library

We’re also continuing to expand our digital library with even more high-quality literary and informational texts. We’re adding hundreds of engaging lessons and resources for elementary, middle, and high school. Teachers and students will love these new short stories, articles, text sets, and more!

Over the next few months, we’ll also be making some additional exciting announcements. Stay tuned!
