This week in class, we’re reading "An Obstacle" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.
In Charlotte Perkins Gilman's poem "An Obstacle," she urges us to remain strong when facing everyday obstacles. Gilman was writing as a feminist during a time when it was not socially acceptable to identify as such.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Gender Roles and Resilience & Success as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :
"How do we define the roles of men and women?" and "How does a person overcome adversity?"
