Parent Guide > Counting Descent
Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.
This week in class, we’re reading "Counting Descent" by Clint Smith.
A speaker explores stories from generations of his family members and hopes for an end to the injustices facing the Black community.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Community, Education & Knowledge, and Prejudice & Discrimination as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :
"What is the importance of community?", "How do we understand the world around us?", and "What are the effects of prejudice?"
