Parent Guide > Excerpts from Jane Eyre
Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.
This week in class, we’re reading "Excerpts from Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte.
Jane Eyre, published in 1897, is a novel written from the first-person perspective about a plain governess named Jane who falls in love with her employer, Mr. Edward Rochester.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Gender Roles and Love as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :
"How are we changed by love?" and "How do we define the roles of men and women?"
Ways to support your child:
-
