Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.

This week in class, we’re reading "One Woman’s War Efforts During World War II" by Veterans History Project.

In “One Woman’s War Efforts During WWII,” a Jewish woman who left Germany for America, Lotte Magnus, is interviewed and describes her experiences coming to the United States and aiding in the war.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Honor & Courage, Men & Women, Resilience & Success, and War & Peace as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"How do we define the roles of men and women?", "How does a person overcome adversity?", "How are we changed by war?", and "What makes a hero?"
