This week in class, we’re reading "Sonnet" by James Weldon Johnson.

James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) was an American writer and civil rights activist, and served a vital role in the National Association for the advancement of Colored People (NAACP). In this poem, Johnson urges his heart to "be brave."
