Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.

This week in class, we’re reading "The Fallacy of Success" by G.K. Chesterton.

G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936) was an English critic, philosopher and writer. Chesterton often wrote parables, which are stories that illustrate lessons in morality. In this opinion piece, Chesterton uses humor to mock books that aim to teach a person how to become wealthy and successful.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Identity and Resilience & Success as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"Why do people succeed?" and "What makes you who you are?"

Ways to support your child:

  • Ask your child about this opinion article at home:
    • What was "The Fallacy of Success" about?
    • What did you learn about Identity?
    • What did you learn about Resilience & Success?
  • Watch True success - John Wooden at home with your child.
