Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.

This week in class, we’re reading "The Good Hours" by Desiree Cooper.

In "The Good Hours," a narrator reflects on what will come of her house as more and more of her neighbors must sell or give up their homes.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Comedy & Tragedy, Community, and Power & Greed as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"What is the importance of community?", "Does money buy happiness?", and "What can we learn from tragedy?"
