Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.

This week in class, we’re reading "The Human Gift: an Introduction to the History of Poetry" by Thomas Pool.

In "The Human Gift: A Brief Introduction to the History of Poetry," the author provides an overview of major Western poetic movements, and connects the "digital fire" of online poetry to the bonfires around which humans' first stories were told.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Beauty & Happiness, Education & Knowledge, and Human vs. Nature as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"How do we define beauty?", "How do we understand the world around us?", and "How do we view nature?"
