Parent Guide > The Joy of Writing
Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.
This week in class, we’re reading "The Joy of Writing" by Wislawa Szymborska (Translated by Clare Cavanagh and Stanislaw Baranczak).
In "The Joy of Writing," a speaker ponders the joy of bringing scenes to life on the page and controlling fate like no mere mortal can.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Death and Fate & Free Will as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :
"How do people face death?" and "Can we control our fate?"
