Parent Guide > The Nature vs. Nurture Debate
Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.
This week in class, we’re reading "The Nature vs. Nurture Debate" by CommonLit Staff.
What makes a person who they are? Is it their genes, or because of how they were brought up? If two people are brought up in the same home environment, will they be the same? For years, scientists have been debating the answer to these questions. This article explores the concept of nature vs. nurture and the debate surrounding the two sides.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Fate & Free Will and Identity as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :
"What makes you who you are?" and "Can we control our fate?"
