Our Family Treasure Chest

Around the world, how can it be
That every single Christmas tree
Is decorated differently?
Up the attic stairs we creep,
Down go boxes where we keep
Our ornaments all tucked asleep.
As tissue crinkles, tales unfold
About the treasures that we hold —
The handmade new, the hand-down old.
And though we’ve heard these tales before,
We keep unwrapping to hear more…
We keep unwrapping to hear more.
