Parent Guide > Fighting for Rights
Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.
This week in class, we’re reading "Fighting for Rights" by Candace Dipsey.
In "Fighting for Rights," Candace Dipsey tells the story of Rena Kanokogi, a female judo athlete who fought for women's equality in sports.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Justice, Freedom & Equality, Resilience & Success, and Social Change & Revolution as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :
"What is fair?", "How does a person overcome adversity?", and "How do people create change?"
