Welcome to the parent guide for this text! Read below to find out about what your child is reading in class and how you can support him/her at home.

This week in class, we’re reading "Rez Dog Rules" by Rebecca Roanhorse.

In "Rez Dog Rules," an independent dog discovers that there is something that he values just as much as his freedom.

As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Beauty & Happiness, Community, Friendship & Family, Identity, Justice, Freedom & Equality, and Love as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"How can we achieve happiness?", "What is the importance of community?", "What makes a family?", "Can you change your identity?", "Which is more important: freedom or security?", and "How are we changed by love?"
